A margin account is a leverageable account in which stocks can be purchased for a combination of cash and a loan. The loan in the margin account is collateralized by the stock and, if the value of the stock drops sufficiently, the owner will be asked either to put in more cash, or sell a portion of the stock.
A margin account that allows an investor to purchase and sell options.
Registered Retirement Savings Plan Accounts (RRSPs)
By contributing to an RRSP, you can defer your tax payments on the money you invest until you retire. Your RRSP must be collapsed in the year in which you turn 71. At that time, you will need to withdraw your savings or transfer them to a Registered Retirement Income Fund (RRIF).
We offer several different types of RRSPs including:
- US Dollar RRSPs
- Spousal RRSPs
- LIRAs/LRSPs (Locked-in Retirement Accounts or Locked-in RSP)
Registered Retirement Income Fund Accounts (RRIF’s)
A Registered Retirement Income Fund (RRIF) provides you with a set yearly income – determined by you to suit your goals, once you turn 71. Similar to an RRSP, your investments can compound tax-free as long as they remain in your RRIF.
We offer several different types of Retirement Income Accounts including:
- Self-Directed RIF
- LIFs (Life Income Funds)
- LRIFs (Locked-in Retirement Income Funds)
Tax-Free Savings Accounts (TFSA’s)
A Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA) is a flexible investment account that allows you to invest in eligible investments without paying taxes on the investment income you earn within the account.
Registered Education Savings Plans (RESP’s)
RESPs offer a unique and attractive way to save for a child’s post-secondary education.
We offer two types of RESPs: Family and Individual plans.
