User Support Technician, Vancouver Office

Position: User Support Technician

Location: Vancouver

Over the past two years, Leede Jones Gable (Leede) has experienced considerable growth, doubling its users and tripling its branches to become a nationwide, independent investment dealer. Leede is assembling a strong IT Team to support these changes and are looking for a technician to join us immediately.

Reporting to the Information Technology Manager (ITM), the User Support Technician (UST) operates with a customer-focused view of network and system operation, reliability and performance, focusing heavily on the details of managing Leede’s user environment.

The UST will spend a considerable amount of time handling user requests (Help Desk), monitoring, maintaining and troubleshooting the user environment, and is expected to take ownership of this component of LJG’s larger IT operations, performing routine maintenance, addressing problems and planning for long-term sustainability. While this role will handle Tier 1 and Tier 2 support requests, severe or irresolvable problems are communicated to colleagues and/or ITM, and worked on as a team.

You will also spend a portion of your time monitoring, maintaining and troubleshooting particular servers and back office applications, as assigned to you by the Team. You will perform routine maintenance, address problems and, working with the Team, plan for the future of these systems.

Qualifications/Education:

  1. Post secondary: Undergraduate degree or a diploma in a network-related discipline from an accredited college/university (or equivalent experience)
  2. Strong Knowledge of Windows 7 and 10
  3. Strong understanding of Ethernet LAN/WAN operation, TCP/IP, routing and switching,
  4. A+ and MS certified
  5. Knowledge of Microsoft Servers server operating systems
  6. Excellent written and spoken English, and English comprehension
  7. Strong communication, documentation, organizational, and problem solving skills
  8. Works well within a team and independently
  9. Works well under pressure and is detail-oriented

Experience:

Hands-on experience in the following areas:

  1. Providing excellent customer service at a Help Desk
  2. Installing, configuring and supporting:
    • Windows 7 and 10
    • MS Office (2010, 2013, 2016, 365)
    • iPhone, Android and Blackberry
    • Symantec Enterprise Protection or a similar enterprise anti-virus software
  3. Using Enterprise level Image Deployment tools (MDT, WDS, or other)
  4. Managing the desktop experience using a major-brand Help Desk application
  5. Installing, configuring and administering Windows Servers
  6. Installing, configuring and administering Active Directory and the associated services:
    1. Active Directory
    2. DNS
    3. DHCP
    4. Domain Controllers, the Domain model and domain replication
    5. Group Policy
    6. WSUS
    7. File and Print services
    8. DFS

Previous technical experience in the financial services industry and experience with the following is an asset:

  1. ThomsonONE, EIKON, Bloomberg, QuoteStream, ITS, IRESS, DTCC, CDS and Broadridge applications
  2. Configuring and administering major-brand (HP, Cisco) switches and routers
  3. Administering a major-brand of firewall (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet)
  4. Configuring and administering VMWare
  5. Configuring and administering Microsoft Exchange
  6. Configuring and administering a major-brand of IP telephony system spanning multiple sites
  7. Configuring and administering a major-brand of servers
  8. Project management

Position: Receptionist and Administrative Assistant

Location: Montreal

Position Description

Leede Jones Gable is currently seeking an Administrative Assistant in our Montreal Branch Office. Reporting to the Branch Manager, the successful candidate will provide support to investment advisors within the Montreal Branch, liaise with clients and support staff in other offices.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Act as receptionist and answer phones and greet clients
  • Arrange meetings, prepare printed material and schedule meetings
  • Process client requests, account transfer, deposits, withdrawals, and payments
  • Track tax-related requests
  • Follow up on client transactions to ensure proper execution
  • Ensure that client completes any necessary documents on time and submits them for further processing
  • Maintain discretion/confidentiality in all tasks
  • Various other duties as requested

Qualifications:

  • Fluent in English and French, both verbal and written
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong telephone communications and client service skills
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to successfully multitask
